A native of North Carolina, Scott moved to Chicago in 1999 after attending The University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music and Indiana University School of Music, and has been very active on the music scene working with countless groups in and around Chicago including the Model Citizens Big Band and Aaron McEvers’ M-13.
In 2001, Scott founded Nia Quintet to showcase his songwriting and arranging, collaborating with some of the best musicians that Chicago has to offer. His first album, End of Time, on BluJazz Productions features 10 original compositions from a library of over 100 songs. His second album, to be released in 2013, features 7 more compositions.
Scott has played or performed with Akira Tana, Rufus Reid, Tim Hagans, Fred Hersch, Walt Weiskopf, Freddie Redd, Buddy Guy, Chris Potter, the Beach Boys, R. Kelly and many more. He has played festivals around the country and abroad such as the Pittsburgh, Melon Jazz Festival along with the Elkhart Jazz Festival in IN, Blues Passions Festival in Cognac, France and more.

Daniel Nicholson is a virtuoso musician hailing from Chapel Hill, North Carolina and shares a 25 year friendship with Scott Anderson. Before making his home in Chicago, Daniel studied saxophone at the University of South Florida before moving to University of North Florida, where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Jazz Studies under legendary educator (and former Chicagoan) Bunky Green. He also completed his Master's Degree in jazz composition from DePaul University.
Daniel plays in numerous Chicago jazz units, including Lead Alto in the Chicago Jazz Ensemble and has recorded as a featured soloist with the Jazz Ensembles at both USF and UNF, with the DePaul University Jazz Ensemble and the Model Citizens Big Band, and with Chicago trumpeter Greg Duncan.

Jon graduated from the University of North Texas Jazz Program where he studied with Ed Soph, Paul Rennick, Christopher Deane, Lynn Seaton, and Stefan Karlsson. He was a participant of the 2004 Banff International Jazz Workshop where he studied with Dave Douglas, Clarence Penn, Jason Moran, Bill Frisell, and others.
Jon is one of the most sought-after drummers in Chicago, and has performed with Grazyna Auguscik, Zach Brock, Stefan Karlsson, Greg Osby, Kurt Rosenwinkel, and Lynn Seaton, and has been performing regularly with Concord Records artist Patricia Barber at The Green Mill.
Jon can be found on recordings with Zach Brock, Jeff Greene, Grazyna Auguscik, Kelly Brand Nextet, Doug Stone, Jangeun Bae, Ben Paterson, Greg Duncan, Ji Young Lee, James Davis, and Matt Ulery’s LOOM.

A native Iowan, he went to the University of Iowa on a music scholarship. He studied with renowned bass gurus Eldon Obrecht, Diana Gannett and Anthony Cox. In 1995, he moved to Chicago and began a busy career playing music.
Patrick has had the opportunity to play with many artists including: the Moody Blues, Tal Farlow, Stephen Stills, Louie Bellson, Matt Wilson, and the Chicago Jazz Composers Collective. In addition to UWP and CSB, he can be seen performing with: the Nia Quintet, Typhanie Monique, Marques Carroll and Full Set, the Nick Bisesi Quartet, Omar al Musfi and HiJazz and John Erickson. Patrick is currently the Musical Director for the Jersey Boys traveling show "Under the Street Lamp"

Keyboardist Paul Mutzabaugh works consistently in both live and studio projects throughout Chicago, enjoying a wide variety of musical genres. Paul currently leads his own original jazz/fusion group The Renegades, and is a founding member of the band Crawl.
He performs regularly with notable local artists such as Chris Siebold's Pscycles, Typhanie Monique, John Elmquist’s Hard Art Groop, and Aaron McEvers’ M-13. Paul earned his Bachelor of Music in Composition from DePaul University.
